Tao Mae Double stick – Angles 1 & 2 with Male triangle

As we introduce the Male triangular footwork to the first two angles of the double stick we add a further complexity to the body mechanics and neural pathways that we are laying down. Practice the first two angles of the double stick with left and right hand and the backward moving steps in the Tao mae footwork. Be patient and allow yourself time to learn and make adaptive changes in your brain. This learning is enhanced by letting go of the fear of making mistakes or being judged by others. Be kind and supportive to yourself as learning complex stick patterns and movements requires retraining the brain, our nervous system, muscles and our co-ordination.

This retraining takes time, patience and perseverance. It requires us to face our feelings of inadequacy and fear of not being good enough.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
