The Slip in detail

A slip is an advanced defensive maneuver used to avoid an opponents jab or cross. The slipping technique allows you to maintain effective body positioning to counter-punch and by slipping your opponent’s punch, their punch will take longer to return giving you more time to counter.

Slipping punches without getting hit requires timing, reflexes, and most important of all–PROPER SLIPPING TECHNIQUE! 

Remember that as you learn the evasive maneuvers of boxing such as slipping left to right, these techniques give you the ability to ” be in the thick of things” yet come out unscathed, and provide you the opportunity to develop resilience or the ability to ‘bounce back!’
